Practice Owner

Dr. Salimah Jones, DNP

Dr. Salimah Jones, DNP, APRN, FNP-C started JCHW out of a desire to really connect with patients on a deeper and personal level. She has a passion for delivering healthcare that is based on quality interactions, authentic relationships, compassion, and respect for people. She realized early on in her career that the traditional healthcare model measures success on the number of patients that walk through the door, and this was a barrier to providing the high caliber healthcare experience she felt that people deserved. Salimah is a mother of 4 and a wife who loves her family and understands the importance of keeping them healthy. However, keeping your family healthy shouldn't come at a price of inconvenience. Illnesses can strike at anytime and having her share of late night ER visits with her own children, Salimah wanted to start a practice built around the patient and what's convenient for them.

Salimah Jones is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and over 12 years of experience. She started out her career working in Long Term Acute Care at a facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she was born and raised. She went on to work in various critical care settings prior to moving to Tennessee in 2009. She then practiced in the Cardiovascular ICU at Vanderbilt Medical Center and subsequently at various ICUs in HCA hospitals across the metropolitan Nashville area. After becoming certified as a FNP she practiced as a pulmonary and critical care NP and managed patients in the hospital as well as in the outpatient clinic. Prior to starting JCHW she worked in an urgent care setting providing acute care, chronic care, and preventative health services to patients and families.

In addition to her clinical practice, Salimah has served in leadership and managerial roles as well as in academia. She is currently an adjunct Faculty member for the undergraduate Nursing program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN and a Course Faculty member for the Master of Science in Nursing program at Western Governors University. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of South Alabama and her master’s degree from Austin Peay State University. She has lived and practiced in Hendersonville, TN for over 10 years. Dr. Jones’ hobbies include traveling, spending time with her family, and writing. She is also a published author.

Why Choose a Nurse Practitioner?

Nurse Practitioners are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who hold either a Doctoral degree or a Masters in Nursing and have completed additional didactic education and clinical training to manage a specified population of patients. Nurse practitioners are certified in specialty areas such as Family Practice, Women’s Health, Psychiatric and Mental Health, Acute Care, Pediatric, and Adult/Geriatric. Nurse Practitioners have a scope of practice that allows them to diagnose, write prescriptions, order and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work or x-rays, provide health education, and holistic treatment plans. Nurse Practitioners are also equipped with nursing skills and can provide hands on procedures such as injections, wound care, and much more based on their training and experience.

Patients have many options when it comes to the types of healthcare providers they choose to see. Women can choose Midwives, Doulas, or OB Doctors to deliver their babies and people with back pain can see a Chiropractor or a Physical Therapist. All healthcare providers offer their own unique skills sets and approaches to patient care. Family Nurse Practitioners who specialize in primary care have demonstrated high quality patient outcomes and high patient satisfaction rates according to several studies. If you prefer a holistic approach to your healthcare that is primarily patient focused rather than disease focussed, individualized care, and a partnership with your healthcare provider, a Family Nurse Practitioner is a great choice for your primary care needs.

We Are Happy to Discuss Your Health Needs!
